SLOW WALK - ROSAS / Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker (Brussels)

How are you feeling? Do you also have the feeling of being rushed through everyday life at an ever-increasing pace? Should that be the case: Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker has complete understanding for you. And will accommodate you. Deliberately slow, to slow down the hectic pace and undermine old habits. It's all about walking. A slow walk, not breathtaking, but one that encourages you to breathe. By slowing down to five meters per minute or three hundred meters per hour. It's an ambitious goal, but everyone can take part. After all, this is not a dance piece being performed on stage, but a new, radical experience that is being conquered on one's own body. "Walking is also dancing," says the world-famous choreographer from Brussels. And walking can be even more, namely meditation. The founder of Compagnie Rosas points out that slow walking has been perfected as a technique of meditation in certain branches of Buddhism. In this way, the SLOW WALK promotes the coordination of steps and breathing for everyone, which in turn expands the awareness of space. The result is the opposite of a mental journey into one's own inner self. The heightened senses allow us to experience our surroundings in a new way. The same applies to your own body. But no one needs to prove their performance in SLOW WALK. It is enough to open your eyes and perceive your everyday life from a different perspective. Whether you are a dancer or not, we are all the same before the slowdown. Whether tall, short, slim or round.
