Special screening of the Oscar winner (Best International Film) as part of "Mainz Reads a Book" (June 7-14, 2026) followed by a themed discussion with the author of this year's book, Milena Michiko Flašar (Upstairs Earth, Downstairs Sky).

There is hardly anything in the world that Daigo would rather do than make music, but unfortunately he can't earn a living from it - at least not any more. The passionate cellist has just lost his job with the orchestra and is now forced to return to his home country with his wife Mika and look for a new job. Full of hope, he finally responds to an advertisement from a "travel agent", but unfortunately he has no idea that he is not dealing with beautiful beaches and faraway countries, but with the last, the very last trip.
