Based on a map of former uranium mining areas in Saxony and Thuringia, the film Sonne Unter Tage sets off on a dizzying journey through time, underground, above ground and into space. In doing so, it traces the sedimented narratives that surround the element uranium materially, geopolitically and metaphorically. "How can the spectrum of the visible be shifted to bring its invisible radiation into the image, to make it audible or tangible?"

The screening will be followed by a discussion with director Mareike Bernien and political scientist Dr. Jakob Kullik (Chemnitz University of Technology) on the film's themes. Moderated by Elza Gubanova & Leon Seidel.
