As a contribution to the 35th anniversary of the KHM, the soundings series invites renowned alumni from the time of professors Anthony Moore and Peter Kiefer and from the time since 2015 in the winter semester 25/26. The first soundings will be organized by minimalist Miki Yui and the group urban recall, who want to feel the hidden pulse of the city of Cologne with their sound.
Miki Yui has been known for her unique minimalist and organic approach to music since 1999. Her music consists of samples, noises, field recordings and electronic sounds from solar synthesizers, whose different elements are woven into a fragile, minimalist organic soundscape. Her eighth solo album "As If" was released in 2024 on the Hallow Ground label.
urban recall: These are Ali Chakav, Joel Jaffe, Navid Razavi, who want to understand the invisible currents and silent chaos that shape our lives and the walls around us. Their process is based on attentive listening and observation. They collect the whispers of the city, its hidden memories and its raw sensory data. These fragments are then not only converted, but transformed into immersive, site-specific experiences.
