Not much is possible in Germany without voluntary work, as politicians emphasize at every opportunity. Two million people are involved in sports clubs, they do things instead of complaining. At the sports conference, we discuss with decision-makers from politics, with sports officials and with those who make their contribution every day in the halls and on the pitches. But can sport continue to rely on voluntary work? And who is responsible for ensuring that children and young people are kept active in the future despite a lack of exercise and all-day schooling? Can the symbiosis between schools and sports clubs succeed in order to avoid sports drop-outs and at the same time promote talent?
