Story Night: Das Paradies auf Erden?

In the organizer's words:

Your evening of reading and participation in Paradise! The authors Katharina Bendixen, Claire Lenkova, Boris Koch and Carsten Steenbergen from KJL (Kinder- und Jugendliteratur Leipzig, www.kjl-leipzig.de) will take you on a journey in short readings - to a favorite place on a mountain, to an adventurous moor, by airship high into the sky or to a dystopian future world. After the readings, you can put your own stories on paper together with the four authors in various workshops: You can draw comic strips, invent fantasy worlds, produce a radio play or come up with short stories based around street art.

Readings

"Comic, street art & co"
In Claire Lenkova's comic novel "Doppelte Heimat - zwischen Ost und West", siblings Jana and Lutz delve into their family history in the mid-1990s: Their little paradise lies in the middle of the former border strip between East Germany and West Germany. What was it like when Germany was divided? In "Tara's Eyes", Katharina Bendixen tells the story of an accident in a chemical factory and its consequences. It's about environmental destruction, surveillance and first love - and street art also plays an important role in "Tara's Eyes": how can art become resistance?

"Fantasy and reality"
What if ... Napoleon had won in 1805 and now occupied England? Carsten Steenbergen explores this question in his adventure story about a young mechanic, including rebel airships and a captured king, in "Florance Bell and the Melody of Machines". In Boris Koch's "Moor Runner", Milan roams the Black Moor, a place full of will-o'-the-wisps, feelings of guilt and a monster: the legendary Night Wyrm. There, Milan also finds the truth about himself.

WORKSHOPS:

"Storytelling & Penciling" - What is our secret paradise? We develop a short comic strip and draw it. Classically with pencil or fineliner on paper. With Claire Lenkova.

"Fantastic worlds" - World building - elves, dragons, magicians or undead teachers - the imagination knows almost no bounds. But how do we use it to create our own (fantastic) worlds? - For anyone who likes to write stories or create worlds for role-playing games. No previous knowledge is necessary. With Boris Koch.

"Words with sound" - workshop on the subject of radio plays. What makes a text audible, who speaks, how is a movie for the ears created and what do you need to consider? Together we will develop a few characters, a scene, and bring it to life. With Carsten Steenbergen.

"Street-Art-Figures-Feelings-Lottery" - Whether graffiti or paste-ups, ad-busting or stickers - there are stories in street art. We write them down: Who put up the art? When? Why? For whom? Photos of street art serve as inspiration for our own short texts. With Katharina Bendixen.
