The video art network Videocity and the Digital Salon Leipzig present a cinema evening with international short films on the subject of "Posthuman". Afterwards, members of the Digital Salon will talk about it. "Radiant Futures" brings together six video works that create speculative visions of a post-human age. Between AI-generated worlds, fluid identities and hybrid life forms, the artists negotiate new alliances between humans, nature and technology. Inspired by the decentrally organized nervous system of the octopus, real and fictitious microorganisms and logics shaped by social media, scenarios emerge in which linear thinking is replaced by complexity. The works reflect a world in flux, in which reality dissolves and recomposes itself - between surface and depth, body and data, memory and simulation. Video serves as a tool of the imagination: for futures that are as enticing as they are disturbing.

SOFT TRANSFORMATION
"Soft Transformation" is an open and multimedia work process that deals associatively and speculatively with transformations and the associated processes of disembodiment and embodiment. Based on the decentrally organized brains and nervous systems of octopods and their ability to permanently change, AI morphing sequences, recordings of bodies of water, 3D scans and 3D-modelled landscapes flow together in the video and form new narratives about the coexistence of humans, nature and technology - without ever depicting the octopus.

"en|H@NCEMen "T is a draft for an extended graphic novel of the 21st century that focuses on two related stories. One storyline tells the sketchy tale of a future monocultural age in which excessive abuse of social media leads youth to a new form of extremely brutal mindlessness. The second story follows the life of a fictional contemporary philosopher and his alarming writings about the approaching end of the Anthropocene. The graphic novel is programmed as a tablet app in which various media fragments such as text, illustration, sound and animation are compiled as separate cells using an index in the form of a DNA chromosome. The tutorial-style video introduces the ultimately fictitious app.

The Sin Park
Wang Chen's work encompasses a repertoire of digital video, performance, 3D game design, sculpture, drawing and costume design. Combining the different media into a single digital composition, the artist uses satire, fiction and exaggeration to create all-engulfing dream worlds. In doing so, the work addresses the collective power of society by shifting and distorting cultural and political perceptions into new radical spaces.

9999 planets
The ZEITMASCHINE by the artist collective ETAGE has landed. It tells us what it might be like on Thursday, September 9, 9999 and opens up new horizons of possibility. It announces our hopes, but also our fears with regard to what can hardly be anticipated: How will we live? Will there still be art? And if so, what form will it take? What climate will prevail on the terrestrial planet? Will the Earth still exist at all?

CBRG.SPACE
"CBRG.SPACE" explores the effects of the human quest to optimize the body and shape habitats. At the former animal testing laboratory of the Free University of Berlin - also known as the mouse bunker - a performer makes contact with lichens and mosses that have recolonized the brutalist building. "CBRG.SPACE" shows a post-human utopia in which humans and non-human creatures coexist respectfully.

RADIOLARIA
This video work is based on visual references of marine life and microscopic organisms as well as Ernst Haeckel's work on radiolarians. Radiolarians are tiny, sophisticated mineral skeletons. They form a crucial component of many ecosystems, can serve as clues to ancient climates and extinct life forms, and provide insight into the history of our planet. In an environment like the ocean, focusing on microorganisms is one way to recognize the importance and complexity of ecosystems.

Videocity
Videocity is an international network of curators, art historians, artists and designers with media art as a unifying interest. It was founded as a public art project in 2013 by cultural manager Dr. Andrea Domesle in Basel and implemented together with the association of business people Pro Innerstadt Basel. Today, Videocity is a global team of 26 people with its headquarters as a non-profit association in Basel.

Digital Salon Leipzig
The Digital Salon Leipzig is an informal association of twenty local artists who deal with current digital technologies and their social impact in their work. It was founded in 2019 by the two artists and theorists Francis Hunger and Gabriel S Moses. In monthly salons, the members discuss their own work and virulent topics in the world of media art and plan joint activities.


Supported by the Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Saxony and the City of Leipzig. This measure is co-financed by tax funds on the basis of the budget approved by the Saxon state parliament.
