Stuttgarter Stadtrundfahrten unter Volldampf – Der „Stäffelesrutscher“

On November 14, 2026, it's that time again: the "Stäffelesrutscher" goes on a grand tour through the city - an extraordinary journey of discovery on Stuttgart's most beautiful railroad lines, pulled by two true legends of railroad history. Accompanied by full steam ahead and the unique soundscape of historic technology, passengers experience a ride that is only possible in this form in Stuttgart.

The special feature: It's not just the locomotives that are historic - the rolling stock also takes you back in time. Passengers travel in faithfully restored passenger carriages from the 1930s and 1960s, with wooden benches, swing doors and nostalgic charm for a unique travel experience.

The journey begins and ends at Stuttgart Central Station. There are two opportunities to take part in the round trip on this day.
The route first takes us to Stuttgart-Waiblingen. After a change of direction, we travel via Fellbach to Stuttgart Untertürkheim.
We then drive over the imposing König Wilhelm Viaduct in Stuttgart-Münster - one of the most famous railroad viaducts in the southwest - before passing through the Kornwestheim marshalling yard, one of the largest freight yards in Germany, which is otherwise hardly open to the public, to Ludwigsburg. This is followed by a short detour to Korntal, before THE crowning glory: the route takes us along the traditional Stuttgart panoramic railroad, with sweeping views over the rooftops of the city. Due to construction work as part of Stuttgart21, the Panoramabahn will soon no longer exist - so take advantage of one of the last opportunities to experience this special railroad line with steam and a historic train.

This round trip is not only a journey through time for railroad enthusiasts, but also an impressive experience for all those who want to get to know Stuttgart from a new perspective - from "above", on rails, under full steam.
