Suspiria

An ambitious American woman comes to West Berlin in 1977, where she has landed a place in a legendary dance company. But there are rumblings within the company, hysterical rumors are doing the rounds, and soon the close-knit community is shaken by a gruesome death. The remake of the horror film "Suspiria" (1976) relies on muted colors and a restrained pace, although it is still about the story of seduction by dark forces. The dance becomes a magical moment of possession, while the demonic eeriness of the witch horror recedes into the background in favor of a more politically ambitious cinema between victimhood, powerlessness and feminist self-empowerment.
