In the organizer's words:
As Artistic Director of the International Handel Academy, Jörg Halubek is realizing a special project in 2026:
Together with young singers and instrumentalists, he will create a new pasticcio opera based on the libretto Tamerlano (Agostino Piovene, 1711) - historically inspired, individually shaped. The singers will be selected following auditions in the fall of 2025, and the young talents will be accompanied by members of il Gusto Barocco such as Eva Saladin (concertmaster) and Jonathan Pešek (violoncello). Under the academic guidance of Prof. Dr. Thomas Seedorf, the participants will work out the musical version of the pasticcio themselves.
Tamerlano e Bajazet is a cooperation project between the International Handel Academy Karlsruhe and il Gusto Barocco. Supported by funds from the Baden-Württemberg Foundation, the State of Baden-Württemberg, the City of Karlsruhe and the Handel Society Karlsruhe.
