Tanita Tikaram was just 18 years old when her life turned completely upside down. The reason: her debut album "Ancient Heart", which hit like a comet in 1988. The raw, unfiltered lyrics, in which the German-born Brit tells of the inner turmoil of a young, queer POC who feels alienated in her own homeland, generated interest among fans and critics alike - her smash hit "Twist In My Sobriety" has amassed over 81 million streams to date. It's been almost four decades now, during which the singer/songwriter has released many albums and works that captivate her listeners with Tanita's distinctive voice and soulful lyrics. A new album has been announced for October this year. In a way, "LIAR (Love Isn't A Right)" will be a full circle moment in the British artist's discography - because the work is a throwback to her debut album "Ancient Heart". While Tanita Tikaram struggled with the feeling of being a stranger in the 80s and 90s, growing up as a queer woman in central England, the feeling is similar today - as politics and society once again make the singer feel like a stranger in her own country. "LIAR (Love Isn't A Right)" will address exactly this feeling and appeal to community and a better future. With "This Perfect Friend", a touching foretaste of the album has already been released - the recently released live version of which gives a good impression of what we can expect from October. Tanita Tikaram will be going on tour for the first time in six years - accompanied by a chamber band that will create a very special atmosphere. The tour starts in Germany on October 21 - with three dates in Berlin, Hamburg and Karlsruhe.
