In the organizer's words:

From a historical perspective, sex work can be traced back from antiquity to the present day. The image of humanity that shaped the time, the values that applied and who exercised power can also be seen in how sex work was dealt with in society. In some times, sex work was one of the few opportunities for women to earn an independent income. In the visual arts, on the other hand, hetaeras, prostitutes, courtesans and nude dancers long played a primarily motivic role and were at best perceived as muses. The exhibition shows that they also played a creative, artistic role. It presents works from art and cultural history as well as extensive archive material on a topic that has hardly been researched to date. The exhibition was created in collaboration with a collective of researching sex workers and is based on a central principle: Nothing about us without us!

Bei Anruf Kultur is aimed at people who, for various reasons, cannot visit museums or cannot visually grasp the content of a guided tour. For example, because they are blind or visually impaired. Or they are not mobile or live in a care home. For these interested parties, the communication of culture, art and historical topics is made possible via telephone.
