The Bros. Landreth are two-time JUNO award winners from Winnipeg, known for their blend of guitar-driven, soulful roots music with harmonious vocals. The band, whose core members are brothers Dave and Joey Landreth, has earned praise and a loyal audience for their soulful songs, inventive musicianship and powerful performances. From their early days attending their father's gigs as babies, the brothers have played rock clubs, theaters and music festivals throughout their lives in North America, Europe and Australia, including standout performances at the Byron Bay Blues Festival in Australia and Eric Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival in Los Angeles. In 2023, Joey and Dave became Grammy award-winning songwriters when Bonnie Raitt's cover of their song "Made Up Mind" (from their first album "Let it Lie") won the Grammy for "Americana Performance of the Year". The recognition was a nice gesture from one of her musical heroes, as her own music draws inspiration from the old familiar records of her childhood - Bonnie Raitt's blues, Little Feat's funky country-rock, Ry Cooder's eclectic instrumentals, Lyle Lovett's twangy traditionalism - culminating in a sound that honors the past while planting its flag in the present.
Drawing on the energy of their recent live shows, The Bros. Landreth returned to the studio to record their fourth studio album, "Dog Ear," due out November 14th. This record captures the spontaneous and collaborative spirit of their touring band, which includes drummer Roman Clarke and producer Murray Pulver, and marks a new, more effortless approach to songwriting. The band describes the album as a deeply personal and emotionally affecting work that explores themes of family and the search for stability in the nomadic life of a touring musician, saying it's "about figuring out what it means to be a constant force in the lives of the people you care about."
The album captures a raw and focused energy in the studio, consisting of a handful of magical first recordings and special collaborations with pop singer Begonia (who is also a special guest on this tour), keyboardist Glenn Patscha and a powerful guest vocal from their longtime idol Bonnie Raitt, who appears on two tracks. The band ultimately hopes: "Maybe something on this record will stick in your head or take root in your heart... Maybe it will find its way into a useful little corner of your life, like songs can sometimes do."
