The Messthetics and James Brandon Lewis

"Deface the Currency" is the second joint album by The Messthetics and James Brandon Lewis. Created in the summer of 2025 during a tour, the band followed drummer Brendan Canty's impulse to capture the evolved live chemistry directly in the studio. Following their acclaimed debut on Impulse!, the quartet now shows even more risk-taking and unity. In seven dense tracks, Lewis' expressive saxophone tone and the energetic rhythm work of Canty, Joe Lally (both members of the post-hardcore band Fugazi) and Anthony Pirog combine to create music that challenges conventions. At Enjoy Jazz, the quartet will now be presenting the songs from their latest work live in the metropolitan region.
