Nationally, Cologne's musical image is defined by carnival and Kölsch rock, but internationally the city is famous above all as a center of electronic music. THE SOUND OF COLOGNE traces this history from Karlheinz Stockhausen and the legendary studio for electronic music at WDR via the Krautrockers of Can to the present day. It shows that direct lines can be drawn across the decades and that the various scenes are closely linked via influential clubs, labels and record stores.
