Young voices on the culture of remembrance
What must not be repeated? What do we want to remember? And who must not be forgotten?
In the THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX exhibition, eleven young people from Afghanistan, Ukraine, Syria, Russia, Turkey and other countries explore German remembrance culture. They have created very personal boxes - designed with artistic freedom, great commitment and the desire to understand history in a new way.
The participants attend a VABO class (preparation for work and career with a focus on language) at the Johann-Friedrich-von-Cotta-Schule and contribute their own perspectives, experiences and stories. They were accompanied by the artists Philine Pastenaci and Tame Priwitzer.
The boxes tell of fates, experiences and hopes. Using QR codes, visitors can hear the stories behind the objects directly from the young people themselves.
THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX is a cooperation project between the InterAkt Initiative e.V., the Stadtjugendring Stuttgart, the Johann-Friedrich-von-Cotta-Schule and the StadtPalais - Museum für Stuttgart.
Supported as part of StolperKunst - a project of the learning and memorial site Hotel Silber.
