THIS IS A PREMIERE - Cristiana Morganti + Emanuele Soavi (Wuppertal / Pistoia / Cologne)

This unusual collaboration brings together two influential figures in the international dance world for the first time: Cristiana Morganti, long-time protagonist of the Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch and now a freelance choreographer, and Emanuele Soavi, influenced by William Forsythe and Jiří Kylián, director of the Compagnie incompany in Cologne for thirteen years. Together, they explore their understanding of art and theater on stage with words, gestures and dance - and their origins as Italians who have been living and working in Germany for over twenty years.

THIS IS A PREMIERE is a choreographic space of memory: scenes from earlier pieces and personal experiences are condensed into new images, associations and reflections. The result is a trenchant portrait of two artistic paths in life - and at the same time a critical discussion about fashions, expectations and constraints in the dance world. Morganti and Soavi stage themselves with humor and self-irony - and turn it into a playful commentary on art.
