20-year-old Khalilou lives alone with his mother in Dakar. She is suffering from cancer. For years, she has used many whitening creams to look like the women on the billboards, poisoning herself in the process. To do her justice, Khalilou decides to disguise himself as the woman "Leila" and take part in a university beauty contest. In this way, he wants to challenge the broken system from within. This social fairy tale dismantles the ideal of beauty shaped in the colonial era and at the same time celebrates sisterhood, identity and resilience. TIMPI TAMPA has its German premiere at the AFFK.
