Twice a month, the Mainz jazz scene meets at schon schön.

About today's band:

"The Balanced Path" presents original compositions and arrangements by bandleader Martin Köhrer. As the band's name suggests, the four young musicians are always on the lookout and are constantly evolving musically. Influenced by contemporary jazz currents and a century of jazz history, the ensemble is difficult to pigeonhole. The elaborate compositions tell their own stories and speak for themselves. At the same time, they leave plenty of room for improvisation and open dialog. Sometimes communicative and fragile and then again swinging close to the idiom of a bygone era: every concert remains unique and inimitable. Above all, the band strives for an authentic sound that touches.
