The traditional costume and marksmen's parade to the Wiesn: On September 21, 2025, thousands of traditional costumed people parade through Munich's city center. Tens of thousands of spectators follow the spectacle from the roadside.

The traditional costume and marksmen's procession at the opening of the Oktoberfest is an important part of Bavarian tradition. Traditional costume clubs and marksmen march through the streets of Munich and create a festive atmosphere.

Around 9,000 participants march from the Max II Monument through Munich city center to the Oktoberfest meadow and present the diversity of traditional costumes, customs and folk dancing.

Everything important at a glance:

• When? Always on the first Sunday of the Wiesn (starting point Max II Monument).

• What: Over 9,000 participants from traditional costume groups and shooting clubs parade through Munich city center - on foot, in carriages and floats

• Where? The parade route leads from Maximilianstraße through the old town to Theresienwiese

• Since when? 1835 was the premiere, the parade has been held annually since 1948, only 2020 and 2021 were canceled. The parade is organized by Festring München e.V.

• And what else do you need to know? The parade is around 7 kilometers long. Spectating at the roadside is free of charge, tickets are available in advance for seats in the grandstands, which are subject to a charge
