The underground classic, written in 1969 but only published in the era of glasnost, tells the story of Venichka's tragicomic journey: from waking up in a Moscow stairwell to the longing journey to Petushki - with a suitcase full of schnapps and presents for his lover and child.

The "poem" unfolds between hangover and clear-headedness, wordplay and despair, grotesque, funny and touching at the same time. Alexis Krüger lends his unmistakable voice to this ludicrous and poetic train journey - an evening full of black humor, love of language and tragic beauty.
