The band was formed in 2015 as a side project when guitarist Miles Okazaki, bassist Anthony Tidd and drummer Sean Rickman were working as the rhythm section for Steve Coleman and Five Elements. Since then, the group, which also includes pianist Matt Mitchell, has released five albums with compositions by Okazaki.
