Ulrike Rosenbach: Puzzle Solution – Des Rätsels Lösung?

Puzzle Solution is the title of a video work developed by Ulrike Rosenbach in 2019.

The work refers to Effi Briest by Theodor Fontane, a text that looks at the Wilhelminian era, a society strongly divided into classes and the traditional role of women.

Since the early seventies, Ulrike Rosenbach has critically examined the image of women in the Western and bourgeois tradition.

The works in the exhibition use visual references to historical and current political events to shed light on the possibilities of reacting to existing conditions.

The juxtaposition of women's self-empowerment and self-abandonment, the self-evidence of their recurring disenfranchisement, becomes visible.

In her work, Ulrike Rosenbach points to the possibility of resistance and open accusation.
