UN-TROUBLE – 30 Jahre Gender & Diversity in Design at KISD

PICK OF THE DAY Exhibition
PICK OF THE DAY
You cannot miss this event.
In the organizer's words:

We cordially invite you to "un-trouble" - A Celebration of 30 Years of Gender & Diversity in Design at the Köln International School of Design.

With an exhibition, panel discussions and workshops, the format is dedicated to the question of how design contributes to social negotiation processes around gender, power and visibility - and how it can critically question and reshape existing structures.

The event opens up a dialog between students, alumni, teachers and experts from the fields of design, science and activism. Together, we want to discuss what responsibility design bears in the construction and deconstruction of gender norms and what spaces this opens up for collective action. The exhibition was developed jointly by a team of students and reflects different perspectives and approaches to gender, identity and design practice.

Highlights:

  • Exhibition on 30 years of gender & diversity in design at the KISD
  • Two panel discussions: pills & power (13.11.) & space & belongings (18.11.)
  • Music and joint exchange afterwards

Introduction: Prof. em. Dr. Uta Brandes & Prof. Iris Utikal
Moderation: Julie Tanqueray (KISD student) & Lucy Howe (KISD alumna)

In our un:trouble panel discussions, we will discuss how design and visual culture shape our understanding of gender, body and belonging - and how designers can challenge existing norms through critical and inclusive practices.

We look forward to welcoming you there and to reflecting, discussing and opening up new perspectives with you!
