In the remote village of "Ruhe", people go about their daily lives happily. The residents appreciate their quiet life and the security of the village community. Until one day, a deep, mysterious hole suddenly opens up in the middle of the market square - and the harmonious coexistence begins to falter.
In the search for explanations, the question of guilt becomes increasingly important. Did it perhaps all start with the construction of the cable car that the postwoman uses to visit the village every week and which separates the village from the outside world? The postwoman observes these changes with concern. Someone seems to be deliberately fueling the villagers' fears. Suspicion and speculation are suddenly rampant. So she sets herself the task of exposing this arsonist.
Sarah Hübner's graphic novel"Unruhe" is a wonderfully entertaining, fantastical story. It reads like an exciting thriller and yet is almost a sociological study of how people react in crisis situations. How do you deal with it when something changes fundamentally from one day to the next? And what does that do to a community?
In our next Comic Salon, Sarah Hübner gives an insight into her comic debut and then talks to Katinka Kornacker about her work.
