Megalithic stone circles bear witness to this, as do the astronomical origins of science in ancient Greece and the technical processes of modern ocean navigation. Even prehistoric sites tell of the important role of the heavens for mankind, be it for practical everyday life or as a memory for mythological worlds of imagination across generations.

The planetarium is the modern representation of a far-reaching series of places and inventions that served man's engagement with the starry sky and the surrounding cosmos. Let us embark on a journey that begins in the early cultures of mankind and ultimately leads us to ourselves along a constantly changing image of the sky.
