Arda never got to know his father. The only thing he has in common with him is a small black mark under his left eye - his "father's mark". Arda is only in his early twenties, lying in intensive care with organ failure, and time is running out. Time that he has wasted with his friends and that the German authorities have taken away from him. His mother and sister have not spoken to each other for ten years. Now they meet every day in hospital, and Arda is literally caught in between. In the time he has left, he writes a letter to his father Metin. He should find out everything about the life of the broken family in Germany that he left behind to go back to Turkey. He should no longer have the option of not knowing who Arda was. In his acclaimed debut novel, Necati Öziri creates a family story in which mother, daughter and son try to overcome their losses and find their own place in Germany - even without a passport. Together with people from Cologne, Bassam Ghazi succeeds in creating a fast-paced evening about farewell, longing, migration and family.
