The association "Deutsch-Georgische-Kulturbegegnungen e.V." presents the three-part temporary exhibition
three-part temporary exhibition "Lost Spaces - Chronicles of the Occupation"
from 27.09. to 09.11.2025 in the Kultur-Restaurant Kaukasia.

For the realization of the exhibition, the three top-class photographers and authors
and photographers and authors ▪ Dina Oganova ▪ Lana Bliadze ▪ Martin Gerner
could be won over. They will be showing their photographic works on the themes of
war and occupation, each in their own time frame.

"Unrestrained destruction", "murder", "torture", "occupation", "expulsion", "war crimes", "genocide" are just some of the terms that omnipresently and massively influence our daily perception of the current situation.

Art and culture are always linked to a certain extent with political messages. As a German-Georgian cultural association, it is therefore particularly important to us to deal with the subject of war and occupation in an emotionally moving series of photographic exhibitions. Occupation is not least a deep-seated sting in the Georgian soul.

The opening date is deliberately set for September 27, the day of the fall of Sukhumi, a symbolic moment of the occupation of Abkhazia in Georgia. The presentation juxtaposes three photographic and filmic positions on two themes of the conflict

- Georgia under Russian occupation
- Ukraine in the face of war

The influence of imperial violence on human spaces is made visible through artistic-documentary photography.

means, the reality of the Russian occupation and the war in Ukraine is placed in an
artistic and political context. In addition, visitors are offered space for exchange, discussion, dialog, reflection and empathic participation.
