Vernissage futur: Gruppenausstellung mit  Valeria Fahrenkrog, Olivier Goethals und Johanna Reich

On September 6, 2025, the third act of SimultanProjekte 2025 will start with the vernissage of the exhibition "futur". A group exhibition with Valeria Fahrenkrog, Olivier Goethals and Johanna Reich, which was created in collaboration with the architects Katrin Tacke and Selina Redeker, will be on display from 4-9 pm and there will be drinks and food on a donation basis.

What comes next? What happens when all the exhibition formats that can be achieved in an open space have been tested? What happens when all the artworks and artists have been exposed to the weather and exhaustion sets in after such a long period of resistance and perseverance? A new space is needed. Or rather: the old rooms need to be made accessible again. Olivier Goethals, Valeria Fahrenkrog and Johanna Reich show us how this can be accomplished with their works between art, architecture and technology.

At the end of the runtime, we want to sit down at the round table with architects Katrin Tacke and Selina Redeker to discuss, plan and work. So that this space can be constantly rethought and reassembled in all its modes and tempos.

The SimultanProjekte 2025:

SimultanProjekte 2025 represent the dawn of a new phase of exhibition practice on the Simultanhalle site, as they break with the modalities of recent years since the closure of the Simultanhalle in 2018. In view of the changes brought about by the deterioration of the Simultanhalle and the spatial restrictions imposed by the construction fence installed in September 2024, the curatorship is looking for new approaches: How can art be presented and experienced in an outdoor space? And how can the location in Cologne-Volkhoven continue to exist as a historically significant and important space for contemporary art and be strengthened in the long term? This project therefore focuses on the question: What can an exhibition space be in the year 2025?
