Joram Schön (born 1991, Berlin) will present a collage of new and old works in the solo exhibition: Roadside Distraction at Lore Deutz, including drawings, paintings and miniature architectural model backdrops.
The focus of the exhibition is the essay film "Die Reise des Abu J - von Dönninghaus bis in den Sinai" (57 min), on which the artist and filmmaker has worked intensively over the last three years.
In the film, he deals with his father's artistic legacy, among other things, and takes thematic detours into his own pictorial worlds via a mural that the artist painted last year in the Villa Aurora, Los Angeles; from a KFC in the Europacenter Berlin-Charlottenburg, to a CVS Drugstore branch in East Los Angeles, to a currywurst stand in Bochum.
The book Mental Storage (2nd edition), which was published in conjunction with the film, can be purchased at the exhibition.
The band Open Ticket will play a concert at 21:00 for the opening.
The exhibition will be accompanied by a text by Olga Hohmann, who will also give a performative reading during the exhibition. Further information will follow.
Supported by the City of Cologne and Kunststiftung NRW.
