a co-production of TIGERS' KITCHEN, FFT Düsseldorf and studiobühneköln
an OUTDOOR PLAY by studiobühneköln at TanzFaktur
Lonely I walk the streets,
Through the rain, through the night.
Why did you leave me,
Why did you do that?
(Tic Tac Toe)
It smells like popcorn. Coke slush slowly makes its rounds. The recurring tension hangs in the air like a forgotten coat. A driving drum sounds: Fuck off, you know I miss you - the magic show begins. Just the right backdrop for magical stories like yours and mine, yours and theirs. TIGERS' KITCHEN use magic and personal stories to address their mothers' absences and bring up experiences that would otherwise remain hidden. The evening oscillates between show, silence, magical moments, sadness and a trick. Constant absence. Death.
The audience becomes part of the magical ritual in which connections are forged between those present and those absent. Where has my mother been all these years? Where has she gone now? And what does patriarchy have to do with it? This magic show offers the opportunity to reflect on female identities and the challenges in a patriarchal society. And the sawed-up virgin, of course!
