Spider threads, also known as spider silk, are a unique and wonderful material. The wafer-thin threads exceed the tensile strength of steel, are sterile and biodegradable. Engineers would be happy to produce a material that even comes close to these properties. Spider webs are among the most elaborate constructions produced by animals. In addition to the threads for spider webs, spiders produce various types of spider silk for cocoons, structures and moults. Join us on a colorful journey through the European spider fauna!
