his intensive course is all about turning bowls and dishes. Starting with a bowl, you will increase the amount of clay from day to day, right up to a large salad bowl that will be the eye-catcher on your dining table.

This workshop is not about speed, but about slowly improving your skills on the wheel with sensitivity and precise technique. You will learn to deal with the fact that a large ceramic work demands a lot from you. Starting again and again takes you further and becomes a satisfying part of the process and your development. Friedrun Fritzsche is a master ceramist and supports you in your individual progress. She will teach you techniques and the basics of various bowl shapes and design methods. For this course you should already be able to center and set clay.

The final challenge of the course day is to choose the one bowl you want to keep so that the others blend into the rest of the clay. Choosing just one bowl often works against the initial impulse to keep everything, but it trains your ceramic eye and lets you work on the finer details.
