Weihnachtszauber „Cirque de Noël“ auf Schloss Bückeburg

From November 27 to December 7, 2025, the hosts Alexander Prince of Schaumburg-Lippe and Mahkameh Princess of Schaumburg-Lippe invite you to immerse yourself in the magical world of the Christmas circus. Under the motto "Cirque de Noël", the Christmas magic takes visitors into a magical world full of wonder and emotion. The gates to the castle grounds are officially opened with the traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony on November 27 at 10 am. In addition to the "Excellent European Christmas Market" award, the highlights include the fire show on the castle moat, the magical circus tent in the castle park, guided tours of the castle chapel and readings in cooperation with Stiftung Lesen - including with the celebrity reading ambassadors: Britta Sabbag, ChrisTine Urspruch and Paula Schramm.

An experience for the whole family

Over eleven days, the historic castle is transformed into a radiant backdrop. On a total area of over 40,000 square meters, more than 180 exhibitors from the fields of interior design, arts and crafts, lifestyle and fashion invite you to stroll through the impressively decorated rooms of the castle and the festively decorated castle park. Visitors can enjoy a wide selection of sweet and savory delicacies as well as warming drinks and the festive atmosphere.

It gets hot at the Weihnachtszauber

Visitors can look forward to a breathtaking fire spectacle at this year's Weihnachtszauber. Accompanied by thrilling music, the Herford formation "Feuerflut" will impressively demonstrate how versatile the element of fire can be. Every day from 27.11. to 30.11. and from 04.12. to 06.12. at 18:30, the performance will provide real goosebump moments - there will even be a second show at 19:30 on the four Late Night Shopping dates.

"Christmas under the circus tent" and magic in the ring

What would a Christmas circus be without a real circus tent? A magnificent, festively decorated circus tent rises up in the castle park for the Christmas magic. A varied program with breathtaking performances awaits the audience here every day : from impressive acrobatics to thrilling clowning. There is also a hands-on circus for the youngest guests.

The musical revue "Christmas under the circus tent" will be particularly magical this year: visitors can expect colorful lights, Christmas music and enchanting attractions. At the center of the revue is a sad magician who has lost his joy in magic. Together with the funny clown, the strong man and the charming circus director, the sad magician tries to regain his sparkle.

Secrets of the castle chapel with Angelika Hornig

Castle guide Angelika Hornig will take the curious on a journey back to the 17th century. She will explain how Prince Ernst zu Holstein-Schaumburg decorated his residence from 1601 onwards. The mysterious shimmer of golden figures, lavish paintings under the ceiling - the full splendor of the late Renaissance unfolds in the palace chapel. Before visitors leave the chapel and return to the Christmas circus, Prince Ernst bids farewell in a painting. Where exactly it can be discovered, however, will not be revealed beforehand!

Christmas readings for a good cause: celebrities support the Reading Foundation at Bückeburg Castle

"Stories don't just enchant us, they open up whole worlds": With this aim in mind, Stiftung Lesen is once again part of the Christmas magic with three celebrity reading ambassadors! On Saturday, November 29, at 5:00 pm, the well-known children's book author Britta Sabbag will be a guest. The winner of the German Children's Book Prize 2025 (2nd place) will take children into a world full of fantasy and Christmas magic with her enchanting stories. On Thursday, December 4, at 4:00 pm, the popular actress ChrisTine Urspruch will read aloud . She became known to a wide audience through her roles in the three "Sams" cinema films and in "Tatort Münster", in which she plays the forensic scientist Silke Haller. The crowning finale will be a reading by the successful actress Paula Schramm on Saturday, December 6, at 5:00 pm. She was part of the main cast of the KiKA series "Schloss Einstein" for several years in the role of Emely Busch and has since appeared in many cinema, theater and TV productions.

Also in the program:

• The daily light show on the castle balcony with a trapeze show at a height of over 6 meters.
• The Princely Riding School presents the equestrian show "Lights, levades and passion - Cirque de Noël: under the spell of the proud horses".
