The number of wars and armed conflicts is at a record high in 2025. The United Nations - founded 80 years ago with the mission of securing peace in the world - is therefore more challenged than ever. However, the world organization, its sub-organizations and its peace missions are less and less able to fulfil their mission.
Following the withdrawal of the USA under Trump, it lacks the financial resources and there is a lack of political support from the member states for the UN as a strong peacekeeping actor, mediator in international conflicts and impartial advocate for international law.
How is this crisis in international peacekeeping having a concrete impact on the ground and how can peace be shaped today?
We will be discussing this on the occasion of the International Day of Peace with
