In the organizer's words:

Yair Dalal, composer, violinist and oud player, is a renowned exponent of oriental music. Influenced by his family's Iraqi roots, he has made it his mission to preserve traditional Iraqi classical and folk music and pass it on to future generations. In this workshop, we will focus on folk songs and instrumental pieces in the Arabic tonal system (maqamat) as well as typical rhythms and playing techniques. Yair Dalal will teach the pieces traditionally by ear. The focus is on making music together and enjoying this fascinating music.

Musicians from the Near and Middle East are cordially invited to enrich this workshop with instruments and musical traditions from their home countries. Also invited are advanced [amateur] musicians from Western music traditions who are curious about oriental music. The workshop is suitable for strings, wind instruments, plucked instruments, percussion and all instruments with intonation range for Arabic microtones. Previous knowledge of oriental music is not required.

The course will be held in English.
German translation is possible if required.
