YOLANDA MORALES & TEAM The Worldship

In the organizer's words:

Inspired by Malcolm Ferdinand's theory of decolonial ecology and his metaphor of the "worldship", the Hamburg-based Mexican choreographer Yolanda Morales undertakes a dance journey through stormy waters. In the course of this journey, she deconstructs repetitive, mechanized processes that are deeply rooted in colonial orders of physical labour. In a durational process, the audience is invited to experience this journey with the performers. In the process, the image of a future ship emerges, carried by the idea of a special hospitality. The stage becomes a place to arrive and stay, where people and the environment enter into a new relationship and physical well-being is celebrated together after the work is done.

The performance is designed to last a total of 2 hours and 15 minutes. It is possible to leave and re-enter the room at any time during this period.
