Circus Wibbelstetz
Who owns the world - and who decides? In "Eigentum. beklaut, beraubt, belächelt", Zirkus Wibbelstetz takes an artistic and dance-based look at ownership, power and justice.
Between loss, dispossession and social invisibility, the ensemble searches for traces of care and responsibility in a community that has become stuck in its own rules and constraints.
Through contemporary circus, the mechanisms of a system that places competition above solidarity are made visible. The dream of advancement becomes a race without a finish line. Those who don't keep up fall - and those at the top fear nothing more than falling.
Circus Wibbelstetz is our performance group with currently 25 circus-enthusiastic children and young people aged between 7 and 18. Every year they develop a production together. The members decide for themselves which circus discipline they would like to develop their skills in. The participants are heavily involved in the theme and production process and show on stage what they are personally interested in.
Circus Wibbelstetz was founded in 1982 and is one of the oldest children's and youth circuses in Germany. The joint training takes place twice a week for two hours each time. The intensive training during the vacations and on vacation camps are special features that make up the Wibbelstetz, just like dance and theater, because they are part of the training sessions and expand the artistic spectrum.
