Works by Rosy Wertheim, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Arnold Schönberg

Rosy Wertheim, a Dutch woman from a Jewish household, secretly organized concerts in the cellars of Amsterdam during the Nazi occupation. Concerts for other refugees. A little comfort in the most difficult of times. A little bit of music. Wertheim had studied with Karl Weigl in Vienna, among others. She maintained close contact with Olivier Messiaen and Darius Milhaud. Wertheim composed her orchestral work Variations on a Dutch Song in 1916. We have copied the 72 pages of the handwritten score and have the pleasure of experiencing the world premiere of this special, idiosyncratic music with you. The Wertheim premiere is followed by a classic, which is no longer as often on the program as it was 50 years ago. Pianist Schaghajegh Nosrati - who studied at the Hanover University of Music - is the soloist for Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Piano Concerto in D minor. A piece in Mozart's supposed "key of death": D minor - the key of both Mozart's Requiem and the overture to the opera Don Giovanni (premiere on October 11, 2025). Arnold Schönberg's hugely scored symphonic poem Pelleas and Melisande follows after the interval. An incredible number of themes, fusions and indulgences - an orchestral experience!
