The FWT: Freies Werkstatt Theater is a place of exchange and artistic engagement with the present. Since its foundation in 1977, it has been a permanent fixture in Cologne's independent theater scene. At the interface of theater, performance and media art, the FWT: develops its own productions and collaborates with independent artists and groups. Under the label Focus on:, starting with the 2024/25 season, the theater will artistically explore global challenges and areas of social tension in thematic series. We also present exceptional productions of contemporary drama. The program is complemented by talks and readings as well as productions for young audiences.
