The Freilichtbühne Mannheim is an amateur theater that has existed for over 100 years. The club was founded in 1913 under the name "Dramatischer Club" in Mannheim-Waldhof. Our current "open-air stage" did not exist at that time; theater was performed in the community hall of the St. Francis parish. It was not until 1950 that the first open-air performances took place - the "Freilichtbühne Mannheim e. V." was born. Currently, the Freilichtbühne Mannheim has about 260 members who participate in the play on and behind the stage. All work connected with a production is carried out by our members on a voluntary basis. This includes directing, stage construction, costumes, make-up, props, lighting, sound, but also ticket sales, administration, service and much more.
