The Uerdingen sewage treatment plant is one of the first remaining purification plants from the early days of urban hygiene in the course of industrialization. The Art Nouveau building (1908/1909) with its imposing iron and concrete architecture is now used as an event location for public and private events. The Verein zum Erhalt des historischen Klärwerks in Krefeld Uerdingen e. V. (Association for the Preservation of the Historic Sewage Treatment Plant in Krefeld Uerdingen) is committed to the non-profit operation, scientific research, educational programs and guided tours of the industrial monument.
