AFERIM! ist ein historisches Drama aus dem Jahr 2015, des rumänischen Filmregisseurs Radu Jude. Der Film rückt die Gesellschaft der Walachei im frühen 19. Jahrhundert in den Mittelpunkt und zeigt die Reise des Gendarmen Costandin und seines Sohnes Ioniță, die auf der Suche nach einem entflohenen Sklaven, einem Rom, sind. Während ihrer Reise begegnen sie einer Vielzahl von Menschen unterschiedlicher Nationalität und Glaubensrichtung, die oft mit Vorurteilen und Rechtlosigkeit konfrontiert sind. Der Film thematisiert die brutalen Verhältnisse und die Rechtlosigkeit der Roma-Sklaven und hinterlässt einen tiefgründigen Einblick in die Gesellschaft der damaligen Zeit. AFERIM! is a 2015 historical drama by Romanian director Radu Jude. The film focuses on society in Wallachia in the early 19th century and follows the journey of gendarme Costandin and his son Ioniță as they search for an escaped slave, a Romani man. During their journey, they encounter a diverse array of people of different nationalities and faiths, who are often confronted with prejudice and a lack of rights. The film addresses the brutal conditions and lack of rights faced by Roma slaves and offers a profound insight into the society of that era. (Romanian with English subtitles) The event is part of “Latcho Dives”—the 4th Leipzig Culture Festival of the Roma and Sinti and is organized in cooperation with Romano Sumnal – Roma and Sinti in Saxony e.V.
