Huffel (saxophones), Roland Fidezius (bass), and Simon Camatta (drums), the band fuses Berlin’s underground fire with the dynamic creative scene of western Germany’s NRW region.
Born from a spontaneous meeting at the Rabbit Hole Theater (Essen) in January 2024, Helicopter is an explosive collision of melody, noise, groove, and fearless improvisation. With Peter and Roland—longtime co-conspirators in the thrash-jazz trio Gorilla Mask—pushing their sound into uncharted sonic terrain, and Simon, a driving force in NRW’s avant-garde scene, injecting his distinctive rhythmic intensity, the result is an unpredictable ride—sometimes turbulent, always electrifying.

Helicopter ist ein energiegeladenes Trio, das an der Schnittstelle von Jazz, Punk, freier Improvisation und rohem Klangchaos abhebt. Mit Peter Van Huffel (Saxophone), Roland Fidezius (Bass) und Simon
Camatta (Schlagzeug) verbindet die Band das brennende Feuer der Berliner Underground-Szene mit der kreativen Dynamik des Ruhrgebiets.
Entstanden aus einem spontanen Treffen im Rabbit Hole Theater (Essen) im Januar 2024, ist Helicopter eine explosive Fusion aus Melodie, Lärm, Groove und furchtloser Improvisation. Während Peter und Roland – langjährige Mitstreiter im Thrash-Jazz-Trio Gorilla Mask – ihren Sound in unerforschtes Klangterritorium vorantreiben, bringt Simon, eine treibende Kraft in der Avantgarde-Szene NRWs, seine unverwechselbare rhythmische Intensität ein. Das Ergebnis: eine unvorhersehbare Reise – manchmal turbulent, immer elektrisierend.
