The MIND Foundation is Europe’s leading organization in the field of psychedelic therapy and consciousness research. In collaboration with Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin and the Central Institute for Mental Health - two of Europe’s most prominent clinical institutions - the MIND Foundation published the largest clinical trial on psychedelic therapy in European history this past March. Consequently, MIND’s partner organization, the OVID Clinic Berlin, has become the first clinic in the European Union authorized to offer psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy (a form of psychedelic therapy) for the treatment of depression. We look forward to celebrating this milestone at our twentieth INSIGHT Forum at the beautiful Bechstein Atelier at Moritzplatz as follows:
We are honored to welcome renowned psychologist and neuroscientist Dr. Christopher Timmermann (UCL Centre for Consciousness Research), the medical doctor and head of the OVID Clinic Berlin Dr. Andrea Jungaberle, former patient Steffi Küster, and the sound collective Soneiro as our guests for the twentieth INSIGHT Forum.
Join us for an evening of deep inquiry into the "fundamental tension" of psychedelic research, set against the stunning backdrop of Berlin’s skyline and THIS PROGRAM:
1. Transrationale: Sonic Contemplation (19:15)
We begin the evening by moving beyond the analytical mind. The Berlin-based music collective Soneiro will lead a 20-minute sound meditation. Through immersive frequencies and contemplation, we create a space of presence before diving into the scientific discourse.
2. Rationale: The Middle Way of Psychedelics (19:45)
The scientific segment features a keynote by Dr. Christopher Timmermann. Addressing the current "epistemological halt" in the field, Dr. Timmermann will propose a "middle-way approach." He explores how the scientific view on neuroplasticity and subjective experience challenges 1st- and 3rd-person reductionisms, arguing that the fundamental tension in psychedelic science is, at its core, metaphysical. In this context, he will also talk about his DMT research.
Following the keynote, we shift from theory to the clinical frontline. Dr. med. Andrea Jungaberle, Medical Director of OVID Clinic Berlin will engage in a dialogue with Steffi Küster. As a former patient, Steffi will provide the essential patient perspective, shedding light on the subjective journey within a professional medical framework. The session concludes with an interactive Q&A, inviting the audience to join the discourse.
3. Communitas: Connection & Drinks (21:00)
Reflect on the insights of the evening and connect with the community. Enjoy drinks and networking in the architectural elegance of the Bechstein Network Atelier as we overlook the lights of Berlin.
