The Hamburg Ballet at the Hamburg State Opera shapes the ballet scene in the Hanseatic city and combines classical tradition with modern, contemporary forms. The company performs internationally, strengthens Hamburg's reputation as a ballet city and offers around 80 performances on the State Opera stage every year. The creative center is the Ballet Center - John Neumeier in Hamburg-Hamm, which also houses the renowned ballet school of the Hamburg Ballet. The Hamburg Ballet's popular formats include the Ballet Workshop Matinees and the Hamburg Ballet Days, which set the highlights of the season with premieres and the celebrated Nijinsky Gala.
