Prizewinners' concert Jugend jazzt

Every two years, the national Jugend jazzt competition brings together Germany's best young jazz musicians. Young musicians present their skills in ensembles in front of a jury and audience. The festival combines competition, stage, workshops and networking - with feedback, mentors and prizes that open up prospects for the future. The Hildener Jazztage presents the prizewinners' concert of the "Deutscher Musikrat" national competition (announcement after May 17).

They combine tradition with bold improvisation: Andrés Coll (marimba, piano, castanets), Mateusz Smoczyński (violin, jazz & classical music) and Ramón López (drums, tabla) create the "avant groove": raw, expressive, modern - rooted in Spain and Poland, inspired by Joachim Kühn.

20 years ago, Grammy award-winning saxophonist Tim Garland founded the Lighthouse Trio with pianist Gwilym Simcock and drummer Asaf Sirkis. The acoustic band combines jazz, fusion, folk and classical influences to create an intense musical dialog. After a successful anniversary tour of the UK in 2024, the trio is continuing its celebrated 20th anniversary tour in Europe.
