30 years Karrera Klub Weekender - 2 Nights with Bands and DJs
The mother of all indie parties turns 30! Who would have thought that three decades ago on that Friday in May 1996? A small party at Huxleys Jr. in Berlin Neukölln with a Carrera track set up was the birth of the Karrera Klub, which has since grown into an event agency. One of the first bands we hosted was a band called "Stiller", later "Sportfreunde" joined them and the rest is well known. Many now big bands played their first Berlin gigs at Karrera: Franz Ferdinand, The Kills and The Killers at Roter Salon, Kettcar at Bastard, La Roux at Lovelite, Tomte at the old Privatclub, Bilderbuch, MGMT, Johnossi and Of Monsters And Men at Lido, Arctic Monkeys and The Wombats at Mudd Club, Arcade Fire, The Libertines, The XX, LCD Soundsystem, Shout Out Louds, Maxïmo Park and Mando Diao at the old Magnet, Editors and Kaiser Chiefs at Postbahnhof, Kings Of Leon and Modest Mouse at Columbiaclub, Mumford & Sons and Two Door Cinema Club at Rosis, and even Adele made her first appearance in Berlin at a party as a support act. The list seems endless, and we have also hosted legends such as Oscar winner Glen Hansard, the Beatsteaks at the much too small Magnet, Paul Weller at the Schillertheater, Henry Rollins at the Passionskirche and most recently Burt Bacharach at the Admiralspalast!
But the Karrera Klub was not only a force at home games. We also scored plenty of points away from home, with festival appearances at Tempelhof Sounds 2022, Primavera Sound in Barcelona, Rock am Ring, Melt!Festival, Immergut, Berlin Festival, Jenseits von Millionen and at the Malzfabrik. Even in the cities of Hamburg, Munich, Vienna, Cologne, Frankfurt am Main, Stuttgart, Dresden, Bochum and Leipzig, some of the records have been and still are regularly spun.
For seven years, the desire for live concerts was actually satisfied. Since March 2019, the Karrera Klub has no longer organized concerts, but only parties where people continue to dance for all they're worth!
Reason enough to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary in a big way. This time again with bands and DJs over two days at the Astra Kulturhaus in Berlin.

Shout Out Louds:
For us, one of the greatest Swedish indie pop bands of all time. Over 20 years ago, Shout Out Louds released their acclaimed debut album "Howl Howl Gaff Gaff" with now iconic hits such as "Please Please Please", "The Comeback" and "Very Loud". The album was the starting signal for a long international career that included worldwide tours with the hottest bands of the time such as The Strokes and Kings of Leon. Now the band will be playing here again, performing their debut album and other hits from their long career.

Maxïmo Park
It is rightly regarded as one of the most outstanding debut albums of the 2000s - if not ever: with "A Certain Trigger", Maxïmo Park shook up the British music scene like hardly any other band. The mix of unadulterated punk attitude, irresistible pop melodies, the distinctive accent and, above all, a lot of energy made the album an instant classic. That was over 20 years ago!
Their hit singles "Apply Some Pressure" and "Books From Boxes" are still anthems of the golden indie disco era of the noughties. Reason enough to invite Maxïmo Park to our birthday.

Friska Viljor
The Swedish duo was the last band that the Karrera Klub hosted in spring 2019 and guaranteed to put you in a good mood. They have played with us several times and even DJ'd. Friska Viljor play with us in a reduced line-up: just Daniel Johansson and Joakim Sveningsson on stage. No band, no safety net. Intimate, close and honest - the songs that carried us, the stories behind them and an audience that was always more than just an audience. Two people. Twenty years. Their hits "Oh Oh", "The Cure" and "Shotgun Sister" are still played at almost every Karrera Klub party!

The Frank & Walters
This band from Cork in Ireland is real indie history for us. In the early nineties, Oasis' Noel Gallagher was their roadie, Radiohead and Suede were support acts on their tours. The songs "After All" and "Plenty Times" are timeless classics of the genre to this day. Rarely has a band played so often at the Karrera Klub. In the early 2000s, they also toured Germany together. We are very much looking forward to seeing them again. The Frank & Walters will be playing as a duo!
