Stroll with flair: art, culinary delights and tradespeople lure visitors to Leonhardtstraße on the 2nd Advent
On December 7, Leonhardtstraße in Berlin-Charlottenburg will host the second annual arts and crafts Advent market organized by Family & Friends e. V. in collaboration with IG UdL Leonhardtstraße e. V.. Alongside the popular summer festival, it is the second major street festival that seems to be firmly established in this special neighborhood street. Numerous owner-managed stores, together with artisans and designers from Berlin and the region, invite you to take a stroll on a Sunday open for business.
Leonhardtstraße is considered one of the most charming "social ecotopes" in Berlin - a street that has retained its character and defies change: despite rising rents, growing online trade and increasing bureaucracy, the tradespeople based here continue to focus on personal encounters, quality and authenticity. Goldsmiths, bookshops and design stores line up here as a matter of course - open, creative and unconventional at the same time.
There is Frau Kette, for example, whose goldsmiths stand for sustainable elegance with their fine, handmade pieces of jewelry made from recycled precious metals - https://www.fraukette.de/.
Nearby, the Hacker & Presting bookshop - https://www.hacker-und-presting.de/ - invites you to make literary discoveries beyond the mainstream - with personal recommendations, readings and carefully selected programs.
And in the Stana concept store - https://stana-berlin.de/ - you will find fine home design, gift ideas and small everyday pleasures - in other words, great objects for living and feeling good. In Bettina Meyer's gallery for jewelry(https://www.bettinameyer.de), you will not only come across her own designs, but also selected works by her colleagues - a place for fine forms, personal conversations and special finds.
For children and families, there is the "KleineFische " children's store - including a camel with cherry stones in its belly to love, hand puppets and clothes for under and over up to the age of 12. The wine store with the evocative name "Suffberlin" claims to have 600 wines, 16 wine drinkers working there, 5 delivery vans, 1 trainer bench, 3 Caravaggios and at least 50 Madonnas - under the motto "Beautiful drinking", of course! https://suffberlin.de/
These and many other stores embody what Leonhardtstrasse stands for: careful change that respects the old and welcomes the new.
The new includes the second Advent arts and crafts market, which fits perfectly into the street under the old lime trees. Here you can stroll around, browse, find gifts, breathe in the scent of cinnamon and wax - and watch the artisans at work. Between festively decorated stalls, Christmas music and handmade treasures, Leonhardtstraße becomes an Advent promenade with a special flair on the second Advent.
Whether wood, paper, fabric, silk, wool, precious metals, leather, stone or clay - Berlin's studios and workshops use these materials to create unique artistic pieces. Many exhibitors have been presenting their work at the Family & Friends markets for years and enjoy the direct exchange with visitors: They talk vividly about their techniques, the choice of materials and the stories behind their work. There is something for every taste and budget - from a loving souvenir to a lasting favorite. The Advent market in Leonhardtstraße shows just how diverse Berlin's arts and crafts are - individual, sustainable and very special. The following creative people will be exhibiting on Leonhardtstraße:
Soap2happyness is a soap manufacturer from Königs Wusterhausen that produces natural and handmade soaps - vegan or conventional. Their scented soaps, gift sets or individual soap bars - designed for Advent and winter - are a delight for the skin and senses. Decorated with soap dishes, bath bombs, small ceramic bathtubs and pumice stones, you can immerse yourself in a bathing world that makes you feel good. https://soap2happyness.com/
Étagerie by DNK - a crazy mother-daughter team from Berlin - gives old crockery a new lease of life. The old collector's cup from grandma's cupboard, the service that only appears on the table once a year or other crockery that simply no longer fits together is lovingly transformed into beautiful étagères, bird feeders or other decorations. http://www.etageriebydnk.com/

The range also includes jewelry such as earrings, bracelets, necklaces and pendants. https://www.facebook.com/Giwenforbeads/
Flaschenjunge is present at all 4 Advent markets this year and works with glass and other recycled objects. Turning old into new is the motto - this is how his bottle boys - lanterns for hanging - are made from old glass and aluminum wire. The stand boys have a base turned from wood or cast from concrete. These unique and sustainable table or hanging chandeliers are complemented by unique lamps made from flea market finds or "flotsam and jetsam". https://www.flaschenjunge.de/
The gastronomic offerings also match the Advent ambience: Visitors can look forward to regional, fair and special food and drink - from handmade pastries to mulled wine, from hearty snacks to fine delicacies. Once again, "Der Spätzlemacher", Alfajores de Luca, both from Berlin, the Holdenried and Kupper wineries, "Wilde Wurst" and "Gentle Spirits" will be there.
"Our intention at the premiere last year was to revitalize Leonhardtstraße as a special place in winter too - and we succeeded wonderfully! Through our markets, people from here and elsewhere come together, meet each other and have fun. That is precisely the aim of our association for urban culture. These small districts are each a magical neighborhood in their own right, and with our commitment we are happy to help ensure that there are more and more places like this in Berlin that attract people with their magical atmosphere, especially during Advent," says Claudia Scholz from Family & Frieds e. V., explaining her involvement in Leonhardtstraße.
It is centrally located between the district court and Stuttgarter Platz (Stutti). At the end of the summer vacations, the big summer festival traditionally takes place here, organized by Family & Friends e. V. together with the tradespeople and exhibitors:
