Abriss. Prosa: Buchpräsentation mit Gerd Sulzenbacher

"Avoidance will be my new hobby, my time word of the future". Gerd Sulzenbacher's "Abriss. Prose" tells the story of an archival assistant who evades the neoliberal compulsion for self-optimization with serious consequences. The notes contain handouts on foolproof behavior: How to succeed in staying put? What to do about mind-numbing activities? How to practice resistant resignation? And how to become part of the furniture? In 66 chapters, the life of a sitting and lying figure of the 21st century is sketched out, who, with Oblomovian inertia, constantly "seeks proximity to the ground" and maps the slow shrinking of Central Europe. The action takes place in Vienna, "the city of schnitzel and dreams", which is gradually being demolished, along with its peripheries. (Engeler Publishers)

Gerd Sulzenbacher, *1993 in South Tyrol, lives in Vienna. Author, translator, co-editor of the magazine Triëdere (together with Ann Cotten and Franziska Füchsl).
